Golfing Holidays in Scotland

For Golf fanatics, Scotland is one of the top "must paly" destinations in the world. Living the tag "Home of Golf", you can expect history, tradition and Championship Golf. Scotland has over 550 golf courses and with such diversity on offer there is always a course for you to challenge.

Championship Golf Courses

Famous destinations like St Andrews, Turnberry, Gleneagles Carnoustie are all accessible, but not always affordable to everyone. The beauty of Scotland is its diversity in courses and affordablity.

But, if it is the elite championship courses you are after, most are available to play. The Old Course (ballot system) and another 7 in St Andrews or the Ailsa Course (host of the 2009 Open) at Turnberry, Royal Troon, Prestwick (host of the very first open) or Carnoustie and Gleneagles has three courses each different styles, but each possing a different challenge. All these stunning destinations are accessible, but there are too many to mention.

Golf Course Gems

Stepping aside from the Championship Courses, there are no shortage of hidden gem golf courses to challenge your game. over 55 courses can be played within an hours drive of Edinburgh, East Lothian is home to 19 courses. Ayrshire has around 20, while the Highlands might not be the first area in Scotland that springs to mind, but there, you have a further 46 courses to choose from.

So it is easy to see why Scotland is such an attraction. Its not just the desire to walk on the hallowed turf, walked by so many of the famous players of today and from the past.
